Poster from 1942 before the victory at Stalingrad and when the fate of the world still very much hung in the balance in World War II. Today is Victory in Europe Day in many countries celebrating the unconditional surrender of the Nazis while tomorrow, May 9, is Victory Day in many countries of the former USSR and was in the Soviet Union before the counter-revolution. The difference is due to the fact that the USSR officially accepted the unconditional surrender one day later than the western allies.
