Quartz-lamp treatment in the nursery of the Segezh Paper Mills, Karelo-Finnish SSR, USSR 1953 -- Daily LIFT #954
Trippy looking photo of toddlers getting this Soviet created treatment at a factory nursery. All large factories in the USSR had nurseries for the children of employees that were heavily subsidized or, later in Soviet history, free.
This treatment was widely used across the USSR and not just for children. It helped with vitamin D deficiency as well as preventing or easing other conditions. It also apparently disinfected rooms. Children and adults undergoing it had to wear the glasses or their eyes could get burned.
