The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP) has issued a statement condemning the continued inclusion of Cuba by the Donald Trump administration on the spurious and arbitrary US list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism.

The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP) strongly repudiates the decision of the United States government to reincorporate the Republic of Cuba in the list of countries that “do not fully cooperate with anti-terrorist efforts”.

This measure represents an arbitrary action that responds to political interests and whose purpose is to try to justify new inhumane coercive measures against the Cuban people, deepening the economic, commercial and financial blockade that for decades has been almost unanimously condemned by the international community.

Cuba has demonstrated with facts its commitment to peace, international cooperation and solidarity among peoples, has historically been a key player in processes of dialogue and conflict resolution, in contrast to the interventionist and destabilizing policy openly demonstrated to the world by those who now issue such a decision.

ALBA-TCP categorically rejects this statement, which seeks to distort reality and criminalize a nation committed to peace, unconditionally supports the sovereignty, dignity and self-determination of the Cuban people, as well as its historic struggle against Washington’s aggressions, and calls on the international community to reject these maneuvers that threaten the principles of International Law and the Charter of the United Nations, including the principle of peaceful coexistence among nations.
