All Solidarity with Cuba Against the Attacks of Imperialism: Brazilian Communist Party

ALL SOLIDARITY WITH CUBA AGAINST THE ATTACKS OF IMPERIALISM!

Throughout its socialist existence, Cuba has been a bastion of fraternity and internationalist solidarity, with numerous records of sending (and hosting) teachers, health professionals, and other specialists to countless countries around the world, promoting actions and work in the fields of education, nursing, medicine, rescue services, and beyond. Cuba, as we know, has been a worldwide example, often voluntarily, of support and aid to peoples of all stripes at crucial moments they or humanity have faced. A striking example of this was Cuba's participation during the COVID-19 epidemic. Cuba does not act on the international scene to produce death and destitution, but to save people, lives, women, men, and children.

In light of this, knowing that Cuba has never failed to show solidarity with the Brazilian people, we call upon all democratic and progressive political and social organizations, popular movements, representative entities of workers, and all those who constantly fight in favor of human, political, and social rights, for life, for justice, and for a free and egalitarian society, to actively participate in demonstrations and mobilizations in defense of the Socialist Island, which today faces the intensification of the economic blockade through countless sanctions and attacks promoted by the U.S. government, with catastrophic consequences for the Cuban population.

We also address ourselves to the Lula government, demanding that effective measures be adopted, such as sending food, equipment, technicians, oil, and other essential items for the survival of the Cuban people. We understand that solidarity among nations reflects the will of the Brazilian people, who have never retreated in the face of discredit or reprisals from those who oppose the sovereign project of our Greater Homeland. No political or electoral calculation can justify omission at this hour when we Latin American peoples are challenged by the 'big stick' policy of the imperialist power. President Lula, like other world leaders, has the ethical-political obligation to defend the rights of peoples to self-determination, to a more just international order, founded on respect for the full life of nations, without colonialist impositions. The time has come for the Workers' Party government to make courageous decisions, to face new challenges, to effectively lead the solidarity campaign with Cuba, in keeping with the best traditions of struggle of colonized and oppressed peoples.

There are men and women who have passed into history as examples of historical figures, through their decisive acts and actions of humanity, brotherhood, and solidarity toward others. Figures of historical dimension, who helped, contributed, and united in the most atrocious and distressing moments experienced by peoples and individuals around the world. At this grave moment when humanity, and especially the peoples of Latin America, suffer the threats of U.S. imperialism, which seeks to impose its interests by fire and sword, using bellicose measures and economic sanctions against countries that do not submit to its blackmail, it falls to political leaders to heed the outcry of the peoples. Faced with the dramatic historical situation experienced by the Cuban people, it is time to adopt concrete initiatives of support and full solidarity with Cuba, through actions aligned with the roots of our anti-colonial history and international anti-imperialist struggle.
