Carney’s Transatlantic Imperial Shuffle

With 20 days to go until the Smith MAGA ballot in Alberta, The DNA Report begins a second round of This Week in Annexation with a post on banker-PM Mark Carney’s sanctified quest for membership in Fortress Europe, aka the European Union (EU).

In a gambit to apparently ‘strengthen’ Canadian sovereignty, Carney has run with the suggestion from European Commission President, Ursula Von der Leyen, that the country become an ‘associate member’ of the EU. Fortunately, the Eurozone elites will work out what that actually is later; in the meanwhile it was critical to get Carney in front of the European Parliament on September 17 to pitch Canada’s juiced up partnership with the old continent in a new world treacherous to weaker imperial powers.

Carney’s vision of imperial solidarity in a ‘middle powers’ club is music to the EU’s ears as their national rulers contend with an ‘unreliable’ American superpower led by an orange icon who delights in dishing out punishment and extracting concessions. The ailing Europeans have also lost ground under Trump to their main geopolitical enemies—Russia and Iran—while getting buried economically by dynamo China. The banker-PM hit all the right capitalist notes—expanding from CETA ‘free trade’ to warfare production, AI and other high-tech sectors, Arctic ringfencing and, of course, oceans of oil and gas along with mountains of ‘critical raw minerals’.

A push poll of the Canadian public was commissioned in the wake of Carney’s speech which suggested that a majority of Canadians approve of the move. While I think it is fair to assume that most Canadians could find Europe on a map, most being able to accurately cite a single fact about the EU would undoubtedly prove a formidable challenge thanks to widespread Canuck innocence about world affairs. The ready public adoption of the establishment view of a rescue-line in Europe is logical for Canadians to believe as it helps reinforce the deep denial of the annexation threat.

All was not smiles and cheers at the proclamation of special status for Canada in the EU. Surprisingly, it was a German far-Right MEP who sounded a dour note, heckling Carney as he mounted the podium with a sardonic ‘U-S-A’ rejoinder. The Euro-fascist hero Trump also derided the ‘associate member’ proposal as “laughable” adding a new tariffs warning against his insufficiently slavish vassals.

The Carney shuffle towards Fortress Europe is the beginning of a shrewd realignment of Canada’s imperial alliances in response to the Trumpian shift in geopolitics which has fractured the united front of the West against the Rest. The EU and its golden boy Carney still strive for unity with the Americans against Russia and Iran, in particular, but Trump-USA is now correctly judged to have become at least as much menacing adversary as overbearing ally.

Logical as this imperial realignment is in elite terms, this Euro-Canuck shuffle is hampered by the reality that they all have grown weaker in relation to the USA. Canada’s vulnerabilities to America are clear in terms of economic integration, political influence and military control.

The EU—the Sick Man of 21st century geopolitics—was forced by the Biden regime to eat ongoing high fuel prices for the vocation of a new world war with Russia while Trump quickly won spending pledges that will ultimately deliver trillions in Euro working class tax dollars to US corporate war barons. Such is the valley of woe that Carney, his Bay St. backers and his Euro besties are forced to cross in order to find their way back to plundering stability in this new rapacious order.
