Chinese delegation arrives in Havana for First Fidel International Colloquium

On Sunday, Dr. Roberto Morales Ojeda, a member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), welcomed comrade Liu Haixing, head of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), at the PCC headquarters. Liu leads the Chinese delegation attending the First Fidel International Colloquium: Legacy and Future.

During the meeting, Morales Ojeda warmly welcomed Liu Haixing and the delegation members, passing along a heartfelt greeting from Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the PCC and President of the Republic, to the Chinese party leader and all the visitors.

He expressed gratitude for the delegation’s presence at the Colloquium, which was part of the main events marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.

He also pointed out the strong relationship between the two Communist Parties and their shared commitment to further strengthening political ties, as well as boosting economic and trade connections between Cuba and China through that party partnership.

Morales Ojeda emphasized the importance of the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China and the 90th anniversary of the Long March, noting that these events go beyond China in their meaning, holding significance for Cuba and for nations working to build socialism and striving for a better world.

He explained that the visit comes at a particularly challenging time for Cuba, with the economic, commercial, and financial blockade from the United States intensifying, along with sanctions targeting Cuban entities, institutions, and leaders of various organizations, as well as ongoing struggles in the country’s energy sector.

In this context, he expressed gratitude to China for its support to the people, the government, and the Communist Party of Cuba, emphasizing that the Party’s leadership, along with the State and Government, will keep working to overcome this challenging situation, relying on the solidarity and friendship of allied nations.

Liu Haixing expressed gratitude to the Communist Party of Cuba for the invitation and shared his pleasure in visiting the island for the first time.

The leader of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee extended the heartfelt greetings and best wishes from his Party's leaders and expressed gratitude for the message sent by comrade Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.

The visit reaffirms the strong ties between the two Communist Parties, highlighting their unique relationship and shared commitment to advancing the agreements made by Cuba’s and China’s top leaders, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and Xi Jinping.

The Communist Party of Cuba also reiterated its historic and unwavering support for the one-China principle and its opposition to attempts at external interference in the internal affairs of that sister country.

As part of its program in Cuba, the delegation previously held a meeting with Emilio Lozada García, head of the International Relations Department of the PCC Central Committee.

The reception was also attended by other members of the Secretariat of the Central Committee, along with heads of various Departments and Offices, as well as officials from the party structures of both nations.
