The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, China's top political advisory body, convened its fourth session of the 14th committee in Beijing, marking the start of the country's annual “Two Sessions” alongside the National People's Congress (NPC). It officially opened on March 4, 2026, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, with President Xi Jinping and top Chinese leaders in attendance. Over 2,000 political advisors also attended, representing a broad spectrum of society, including scientists, entrepreneurs, doctors, teachers, lawyers, members of non-Communist parties, and ethnic minorities.

Wang Huning, chairman of the CPPCC, delivered a work report summarizing achievements over the past year and outlining future priorities. The report emphasized the CPPCC's role in multiparty cooperation, political consultation under the Communist Party leadership, and advancing “whole-process people’s democracy”

The CPPCC actively involves public input and evidence-based proposals. In 2025, it processed 5,061 out of 5,992 submitted proposals (99.9% response rate) and conducted extensive consultative and outreach activities benefiting millions. The 2026 session continues this practice, with advisors providing recommendations to guide policy-making and implementation of strategic objectives.

This session runs through March 11, 2026, with intensive deliberations on proposals and plans that will shape China’s policies for the coming years.
