Honouring the vision of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, who envisioned the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) as a formidable revolutionary force and a bastion of dignity and patriotism, the National Decoration Act for the 65th anniversary of the founding of this mass organization (September 28, 1960) took place on Friday afternoon.

The solemn ceremony, presided over by Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic, provided an opportunity to acknowledge the remarkable contributions of CDR members, zones, and collectives. These groups, through their dedication to assigned tasks, revolutionary history, and loyalty to the Revolution, serve as exemplary models and a source of pride for the neighborhoods.

Precisely because the Revolution is in the neighbourhoods, the National Executive Secretariat of the mass organization awarded the "September 28" Flag, the highest honor given by the CDRs, to 17 grassroots organizations that have successfully completed their important missions. Representatives from each organization received the flag from the Cuban Head of State.

This year, 214 grassroots leaders from across the country, recognized for their exceptional performance and consistent service to the CDRs, were honored with the "For the Defense of the Homeland and the Unity of the Neighbourhood" medal, presented by the Council of State. On Friday afternoon, fourteen of these leaders received their decorations in the protocol room of El Laguito.

Similarly, 18 comrades, representing an additional 307 CDR members and grassroots leaders, were awarded the "September 28" Distinction during the day of tribute. This honor is bestowed by the National Executive Secretariat of the CDRs to grassroots leaders, founders, cadres, internationalist aid workers, young people, and employees of State agencies and institutions closely associated with the organization's work.

May these recognitions serve as a stimulus to continue defending, with the same passion of the first day, the conquests of our Homeland, said Julia Durruthy Molina, national deputy coordinator of the CDRs, in the central words of the tribute.

As Fidel taught us, as he stressed, in Cuba there is only one Revolution and its continuation relies on the daily efforts and dedication of each of its children.

Also present at the ceremony were the member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization, Roberto Morales Ojeda; the national coordinator of the CDRs, Gerardo Hernández Nordelo, as well as other members of the Political Bureau, leaders of the Party, the Union of Young Communists, mass organizations, the Revolutionary Armed Forces, the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution and the Ministry of the Interior.
