The spokesperson for the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Hu Zhaoming, has demanded the immediate lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba.

In a message published on the social network X, Hu said that Washington has maintained a comprehensive blockade and illegal sanctions against Cuba for more than six decades, causing profound suffering to the Cuban people.

"These sanctions should be lifted immediately, rather than intensified," the spokesperson said.

He also noted that China "firmly supports Cuba in safeguarding its national sovereignty and security, and opposes unreasonable interference by external forces and the deprivation of the Cuban people's right to survival and development."

Hu also urged the U.S. government to listen to the demands of the international community and end the blockade, sanctions and any form of coercion against Cuba. "The US should do more to promote regional peace and stability," he stressed.

Considered the cornerstone of relations between the two countries, the ties between the CPC and the Communist Party of Cuba are characterized by sustained exchange and mutual support on issues related to sovereignty and upholding the principles of non-interference and respect among nations.
