Communist Party of Cuba and the Party of the European Left sign Exchange and Cooperation agreement

Dr. Roberto Morales Ojeda, a member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), welcomed Walter Baier, president of the Party of the European Left (PEL) in Havana. Together, they signed an Exchange and Cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening and expanding the friendship, solidarity, and collaboration between their organizations.

During the meeting, Morales Ojeda expressed gratitude to Baier and the PEL members for their ongoing support and solidarity with the Cuban Party, government, and people, particularly in light of the intensified economic, commercial, financial, and energy sanctions imposed by the United States government.

He emphasized the significance of European leftist organizations speaking out in support of Cuba and opposing U.S. policy, which he called genocidal and a form of collective punishment against the Cuban people.

Morales Ojeda emphasized that the agreement's signing presents a chance to enhance collaborative efforts and called for the creation of a roadmap to systematically assess the achievement of the set objectives.

He explained that the goal is for the signed document to go beyond just a commitment between the two organizations, and instead actively help strengthen the ties, collaboration, and agreement between the PCC and the PEL, taking them to the next level.

Baier expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome in Cuba and emphasized the great importance of signing the agreement, especially in the current context, noting that unity and cooperation among the various leftist forces are now more relevant than ever.

The PEL president reiterated the organization's support for the Cuban people in light of the intensified U.S. blockade and other actions intended to exacerbate its effects, expressing confidence that the Cuban people will continue to stand strong.
