MOSCOW, Russian Federation - On Thursday, November 27, The Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and the United Russia Party signed a Special Agreement of Privileged Cooperation, the only one of its kind ever made by the Russian party with a foreign partner.
The agreement was signed by Political Bureau member Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, and Vladimir Yakushev, Secretary of the General Council of the United Russia Party, following formal discussions between the delegations of both nations.
"This agreement is a sign of the excellent state of relations between our parties, and the will to continue deepening and diversifying them," said Morales Ojeda, stating that this is more crucial than ever, considering the circumstances both countries are facing, along with the Western aim of suppress their voices.
He mentioned that there are aspects where inter-party collaboration needs ongoing development, such as cadre training and the connections between the party youth organizations, the UJC and the Youth Guard.
Vladimir Yakushev, on his part, said that the new agreement "is unprecedented in the practice of United Russia. I hope that all the actions described in it will be implemented, for the benefit of our countries and peoples. It is symbolic that this momentous initiative takes place in the year of the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazism, to which Cuba made a significant contribution."
"We support the brotherly Cuban people in their struggle against the criminal U.S. blockade. We understand that pressure from Washington has increased dramatically under Donald Trump's administration. Our countries reject illegal unilateral sanctions that violate international law," he emphasized.
In addition, he expressed gratitude to the Cuban government for publicly criticizing NATO's expansion into Russia's borders, and for supporting Moscow's legitimate demands for security guarantees. "Russia will continue to provide the support and help that Cuba needs, especially after the effects of the devastating Hurricane Melissa," Vladimir Yakushev reiterated.
During his official visit to the Russian Federation, Morales Ojeda, along with his accompanying delegation, laid flowers at Vladimir Ilyich Lenin's mausoleum in Moscow's Red Square. They also visited the Kremlin wall.
