Solidarity with Cuba continues to strengthen in the face of President Donald Trump's new executive order, which imposes tariffs and a total blockade on the island's fuel supply, measures that have been described as an escalation of war, a genocidal act and deliberate economic sabotage.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the African National Congress (ANC) have issued strong statements rejecting the recent measures taken by the U.S. government against Cuba, describing them as illegal, genocidal and in violation of international law.
Statement of the Communist Party of India (Marxist): The Communist Party of India (Marxist) denounced the executive order of U.S. President Donald Trump, which imposes tariffs on any country that supplies oil to Cuba. The organization warned that this measure constitutes a new escalation in the war against the Cuban people that has lasted for decades.
The CPI(M) backed Cuba's denunciation, which has rightly described this act as genocidal, and condemned this offensive by the Trump regime as "illegal and cowardly." In their message, they expressed their support for the government and people of "socialist Cuba," describing it as a beacon of hope for those seeking to build a better world.
African National Congress (ANC) Statement: For his part, African National Congress Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula issued an official statement in which the ANC strongly condemns the imposition of a total blockade on fuel supplies to Cuba. The organization emphasized that this action constitutes a direct attack on the Cuban people and represents the continuation of decades of deliberate economic sabotage and strangulation through an unjust and unilateral embargo.
The ANC explained that this blockade occurs a month after Venezuela's invasion and the abduction of its legitimate leader, President Nicolás Maduro, along with his wife, comrade Cilia Flores. They also noted that these actions come after threats against Mexico, unlawful expropriations, and a desire to seize sovereign natural resources, all under the guise of humanitarian intervention.
The South African organization denounced the fact that these "draconian and inhumane measures" violate the sovereignty of nations and undermine efforts to build a just world order based on inclusive multilateralism, trade cooperation and alliances for reciprocal growth. They warned that the fuel blockade greatly undermines the Cuban economy, deliberately weakened by a blockade that the ANC has consistently opposed.
As an organization committed to prosperity, the flourishing of the economies of the Global South, and the stability of Caribbean nations, the ANC demanded the unconditional and immediate lifting of the oil and trade blockade.
