"We are fully committed to further developing our longstanding relations with Laos," stated Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic, on Thursday afternoon as he welcomed Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, at the Palace of the Revolution.
As an "additional example of the excellent condition of our relations," the Head of State highlighted the official visit of the Laotian Foreign Minister, noting that it signifies a milestone in the commitment of both parties to further expand and strengthen the bonds that connect them.

He mentioned his recent visit to that sister country, describing it as a valuable experience where he met with top officials and reached a strong consensus on ways to further strengthen the ties between the two nations. These ties are rooted in the close friendship between the Laotian National Hero, Kaysone Phomvihae, and Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
Comrade Thongsavanh Phomvihane, during his official visit to Cuba, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome he received on his first visit to the country since becoming the Laotian Foreign Minister.
"We highly valued your last visit to Laos," said the diplomat, while affirming his country's willingness to "continue strengthening the relations that exist between the two nations."

The Cuban President was joined by Gerardo Peñalver Portal, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ariel Lorenzo Rodríguez, the Director of Asia and Oceania at the Foreign Ministry.
According to the official website of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit by the Laotian diplomatic leader to Cuba reaffirms the importance of the relationship between the two countries and their commitment to further enhance cooperation across all areas.
