In a meeting that reaffirms the historic friendship between Cuba and Vietnam, established by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh, Dr. Roberto Morales Ojeda, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) welcomed the delegation from the Scientific Council of the Central Organs of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV). The delegation was led by Vu Thanh Mai, the deputy head of the Commission on Propaganda, Education, and Mass Mobilization of the CPV's Central Committee.
At the meeting, Morales Ojeda expressed solidarity and condolences to the Vietnamese people and government regarding the victims of the recent floods in the central region of Vietnam. He also expressed gratitude to Vietnam for their solidarity in response to the damage caused by Hurricane Melissa in eastern Cuba.
He emphasized that this mutual support during challenging times highlights the strength of the bilateral relationship.
The visit is part of the preparations for commemorating the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries on December 2, with significant activities planned for the occasion.
In addition, the agreements made during comrade General Secretary To Lam's visit to Cuba in September of last year, as well as the subsequent visit to Vietnam by the First Secretary of the Central Committee and President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, this year, were reaffirmed.
The dialogue also made it possible to give continuity to the issues addressed at the Sixth Theoretical Seminar between the two parties, which took place this year in Havana, with plans to organize the next seminar following the respective congresses of both organizations.
Morales Ojeda highlighted the significance of the Vietnamese experience in preparing for its 14th Congress, set for January, noting that this process is akin to the preparations for the 9th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba, which is planned for April.
The Cuban leader thanked, on behalf of his party, government and people, Vietnam's unwavering support for Cuba's fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. government and its opposition to Cuba's unfair inclusion on the list of countries sponsoring terrorism, a solidarity that goes beyond mere condemnation. Instead, it is realized through projects that offer mutual benefits.
For his part, Vu Thanh Mai sent affectionate greetings from the top leaders of the Party, the Government and the Vietnamese people, and said that it is a great honor to visit and get to know Cuba.
During his visit, the delegation conducted meetings with the Central Committee's departments of Economic Productivity and Social Sector Attention, as well as at the Ñico López Party University, which the Vietnamese leader described as highly satisfactory.
Also present were the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Cuba, Le Quang Long, other members of the Secretariat, heads of departments and Party leaders of both nations.
