Emilio Lozada García, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and the head of its Department of International Relations, took part in the International Symposium 'The Left in the Contemporary World' this Saturday. The event, held in Nicosia, Cyprus, was organized to mark the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of Cyprus-AKEL.

During his speech via videoconference, the Cuban party leader extended fraternal congratulations to the organization on this milestone and expressed the Communist Party of Cuba's gratitude for its steadfast support and solidarity with the Cuban Revolution.

Lozada García discussed the effects of the intensified economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States Government on Cuba, along with the repercussions of the energy siege the country is experiencing. He condemned these measures as elements of Washington's hostile policy towards the Cuban people.

He also mentioned the implementation process of the economic and social transformations occurring in Cuba amidst the nation's challenging circumstances.

The symposium, held on November 7, brings together representatives of communist parties, leftist forces and progressive organizations from different regions of the world, with the purpose of exchanging experiences and discussing the main contemporary political, economic and social challenges facing them.

The meeting is part of the commemorative activities for the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of Cyprus, whose historical continuity is represented by the Progressive Party of Working People (AKEL), an organization that has maintained ties of friendship and solidarity with Cuba.

Cuba's involvement in this meeting is part of the exchanges among leftist and progressive political organizations, as well as the longstanding cooperative and solidarity ties between the Communist Party of Cuba and AKEL.
