Wang Yulin, Director General of Bureau V of the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) was in Cuba recently to attend a conference being organized by the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC).

The conference was, unfortunately, cancelled due to Hurricane Ian. Before Yulin left Cuba, however, he did an interview with Cuban journalist Bertha Mojena Milian that was published by the PCC on October 14 on its website.

We have translated an excerpt from the interview from the original Spanish:

Cuba was the first country to establish diplomatic relations with China in Latin America and is the only socialist country in the Western Hemisphere and in more than 60 years of relations, our nations advanced side by side, shoulder to shoulder on the path of building a socialism with its own characteristics, supporting each other in the matters of core interest to each one, collaborating closely on the international and regional stages.
Cuba and China are examples of mutual aid between developing countries, of cooperation and solidarity among socialist countries. We are good friends, comrades and brothers.
The development of binational relations is also inseparable from the attentions of the highest leaders. CPC General Secretary and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping has visited Cuba several times at different stages and has attended visits by senior leaders, both State and CPC, and in recent years exchanges between our General Secretary and Díaz-Canel, the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), have intensified.
We can say that relations between our parties are fundamental for the development of binational relations, and we want to further deepen party-to-party exchanges...
The world is experiencing momentous changes never seen before, there are many conflicts and there is a resurgence of hegemonic acts, the COVID-19 pandemic is not completely over and in this context I believe that developing countries such as China and Cuba must strengthen unity to face these challenges together.
We are two socialist countries under the leadership of Communist Parties and in the more than 60 years of the Cuban Revolution we have noticed that Cuba has achieved important advancements, - both in economic and social aspects - and I am sure that under the leadership of the PCC, the guidelines of the 8th Congress, the Cuban people and government will achieve greater successes in the construction of socialism with Cuban characteristics and in this process Cuba will have the solidarity, the support of the Chinese Party, government and people.
We will also continue to support Cuba in its just struggle for independence, sovereignty and national dignity, and to oppose foreign interference.
