"Solidarity with Cuba is in our DNA," stated Pinarayi Vijayan, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Chief Minister of Kerala, while welcoming the delegation from the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) participating in an event on democracy and development in that Indian state.
During the friendly meeting, the Cuban representatives reaffirmed the PCC's commitment to further enhance relations with the leftist groups forming the governing coalition in Kerala.
Vijayan reflected on his 2023 visit to Cuba and agreed that opportunities exist to enhance interparty relations and economic connections in shared areas of interest, like agriculture and biotechnology.
While participating in the event "Kerala: Vision 2031," the Cuban delegation condemned the unprecedented intensification of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States. They also provided updates on the severe impact of President Trump's recent executive order.
They also expressed thanks for the unwavering solidarity with the island on the part of the leftist forces in Kerala and shared Cuba's experiences in the development of a genuine system of people's power.
The delegation consisted of César Hernández González, a member of the Provincial Committee of the PCC in Havana, and Aymée Díaz Negrín, the coordinator for the Global South in the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee.
