Cuban President meets with Namibian PM in Havana

A meeting between brothers took place this Monday afternoon at the Havana Convention Center, when - in the context of the First Fidel International Colloquium: Legacy and Future - the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, received Dr. Tjitunga Elijah Ngurare, Prime Minister of the Republic of Namibia.

The president described the visit to the island by the delegation from our beloved Namibia as “very significant.” He also sent a warm greeting to Namibia’s President, Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Nsaitwah, and emphasized that the president has an open invitation to visit Cuba whenever possible.

During a conversation attended by Political Bureau member and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, along with Emilio Lozada García, a member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and head of the Department of International Relations, President Díaz-Canel expressed gratitude to Dr. Tjitunga Elijah Ngurare for the consistent support shown by representatives of the African nation in international forums, advocating for Cuba and opposing the imperial blockade the island endures.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Namibia extended warm greetings from President Netumbo Nandi-Nsaitwah to Díaz-Canel, noting that the President plans to visit the Caribbean nation.

"We feel your pain," said Dr. Tjitunga Elijah Ngurare in reference to the current challenges that Cuba is facing: "Namibians," he stressed, "feel that pain." And then he commented with emotion:

"We cannot forget when Cuba was on our side and then it was not fashionable to be." The Prime Minister of the Republic of Namibia mentioned that Cuba lost over two thousand of its children in the fights for the independence of the sister peoples of the mother continent.

"In all circumstances," Dr. Tjitunga Elijah Ngurare declared to President Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, "we will be on Cuba's side."
