Under exceptionally difficult circumstances workers in the city that was besieged by the Nazis for 872 days worked around the clock to help defend it. Because of these collective efforts and sacrifices Leningrad survived and ultimately broke the longest siege in modern history and the deadliest siege in the history of the world.
