Kaysone Phomvihan, the great Laotian revolutionary leader and Communist was born December 13, 1920. Phomvihane was the leader of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party during its great revolutionary years of struggle between 1955 and the formation of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in 1975.
He served as Prime Minister of the republic from 1975 to 1991. He died in 1992.
