Malik Gabdulin was a newspaper editor, journalist and academic prior to the war. During the battles of early 1942 he performed with outstanding bravery and was made a Hero of the Soviet Union. After the war he went on to be an acclaimed academic in both science and pedagogy as well as being elected as a deputy to the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. He died in 1973.
