Dimitris Koutsoumbas speaks in Montreal -- Images via the KKE and video screenshots
The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) reports that the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the party, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, is visiting Canada. He is attending events and meetings in various cities of the country, conveying the KKE's call to the tens of thousands of Greek emigrants ahead of the upcoming European elections.
On Monday 22 April, speaking at an event in Montreal attended by a delegation of the Communist Party of Canada and the CYO of Canada, he stressed the following, among other things:
"The strengthening of the KKE with thousands of votes of Greeks abroad is a condition for bringing the demand for the satisfaction of the people's needs militantly at the fore, in opposition to the logic that lowers the bar of demands and undermines the struggles and demands of emigrants both towards the Greek government and towards the governments of the countries where they reside.
From here, from Canada, Greek expatriates can send a message addressed to multiple recipients that no one can misinterpret: A strong KKE in Greece and among Greek expatriates is the most powerful message of resistance conveyed to the peoples of Europe and the entire world. It is a message of resistance, hope and overthrow of barbarity!".
On Tuesday 23 April, the delegation of the KKE, headed by D. Koutsoumbas, had a meeting with a delegation of the Communist Party of Canada and its General Secretary, comrade Liz Rowley. After his trip in Canada he will visit the USA.
