"Honor and glory to our heroes. Homeland or Death! We will win! Until victory always!" The letters were stamped, on Tuesday afternoon, on the Book of Condolences in Tribute to the Heroes and Martyrs of Venezuela and Cuba who gave their lives in defense of the sovereignty of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

They were written by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, on the pages open since January 9 at the Venezuelan Embassy in the capital's Playa municipality.

The book was accessible until this Tuesday for the Cuban authorities, accredited diplomatic corps members on the island, and the public to express their feelings.

Alongside other leaders of the Revolution, the Cuban President entered the room where the Book of Condolences was placed and began his message by saying: "To the brave people of Venezuela: Great pain and indignation are felt by the Cuban people due to the vile and criminal attack on sister Venezuela, and the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro Moros and comrade Cilia Flores."

He said in his prose: "We express our genuine and heartfelt condolences and revolutionary tribute to the women and men of Venezuela, and to the 32 Cuban fighters who offered their lives in defense of Venezuela, in defense of Cuba, in defense of Latin America and the Caribbean."

"In the face of the threats of the American empire," the Head of State stressed, "we reaffirm our loyalty to the legacy of our heroes, Fidel and Chávez."

At this time, other senior leaders of the Republic of Cuba, who are members of the Political Bureau, also expressed the sense of comradeship that binds the two nations. These leaders include Esteban Lazo Hernández, the President of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State; Manuel Marrero Cruz, the Prime Minister; Roberto Morales Ojeda, the Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party; and Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The tribute was also attended by member of the Central Committee and Head of its Department of International Relations, Emilio Lozada García; as well as by the Venezuelan ambassador to Cuba, Orlando Maneiro Gaspar.
