On March 5, a virtual meeting took place at the headquarters of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba. It included 66 representatives from 27 communist parties and left-wing and progressive political groups in Europe. Among the participants were Walter Baier, president of the Party of the European Left, and David Adler, co-general coordinator of the Progressive International.
The meeting was chaired by Emilio Lozada García, a member of the Central Committee and the head of its Department of International Relations. He provided a comprehensive update on the challenging situation Cuba is experiencing as a result of the intensified genocidal blockade and the Executive Order of the United States government, which prevents the delivery of fuel to Cuba.
During the exchange, Lozada García expressed gratitude to the political organizations for their continuous demonstrations of solidarity and support for the Cuban people and their Revolution. He emphasized the unwavering commitment of the Communist Party of Cuba to further progress in building socialism, drawing inspiration from the legacy of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz in his centennial year, the teachings of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, and the guidance of the First Secretary and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
The participants in this heartfelt gathering expressed strong and widespread support and solidarity with Cuba. They outlined significant concrete actions that each of these allied political groups will undertake in the short and medium term, reaffirming that Cuba is not and will not be alone.
This videoconference followed the session on February 17, which included 69 representatives from 27 leftist and progressive parties and groups across Latin America and the Caribbean.
