The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) reports that for the fifth consecutive week, Greek farmers are continuing their tough battle for survival, maintaining dozens of massive roadblocks and escalating their forms of struggle by blocking all major roads at key points across the country. In response, the government spokesperson called on the farmers to meet with the prime minister on Tuesday, January 13, in Athens.
During his speech in Parliament on 8 January 2026, the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, addressing the government, stressed that “the survival of farmers requires a complete break with the path of development that you and the EU are pursuing, because it is precisely this path that is destroying farmers and livestock breeders”. Once again, he expressed the KKE’s support for the farmers and called on the government to meet their just demands.
