In Beijing's historic Tiananmen Square, a military parade was held on September 3 to mark the 80th anniversary of the Chinese people's victory over Japanese aggression in the global anti-fascist war.

The march paid tribute to the millions of children from this land who lost their lives during the brutal 14 years of armed conflict.

Shortly before the start of the parade, President Xi Jinping welcomed his special guests, including Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.

The Chinese leader then received more than a dozen other dignitaries from all continents who arrived in Beijing to celebrate Victory Day, including North Korean Head of State Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

President Xi Jinping, after greeting the war veterans, conveyed a message to the nation and the world, showing his respect for everyone who took part in the Chinese people's war of resistance and for those from various parts of the world who contributed.

For over ninety minutes, over 10,000 soldiers from China's air, sea, and land forces demonstrated the modernity of their weapons and the military strength of the Asian giant to the world.
