Communists of Catalonia in defence of the Cuban Revolution and Raúl Castro

Yesterday, American imperialism levelled a whole series of far-fetched accusations against former Cuban President Raúl Castro, accusing him of events that took place in 1996, at a time when the country was defending itself against the actions of terrorist groups linked to the US government and to the Miami mafia.

In a shameful intervention, Secretary of State Marco Rubio denied that the illegal blockade the US maintains against the island has any negative effect on the Cuban people, and made the hypocritical offer of 100 million dollars to Cuba, as if the situation the country is going through had nothing to do with them.

It is therefore an operation aimed at creating a pseudo-legal framework to justify an intervention or a kidnapping on Cuban territory, such as the one carried out against President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores. This operation seeks to provoke terror among the Cuban population, and attempts to foment a coup d'état within the country, especially now that the US are seeking some kind of victory after the humiliation suffered in the war of aggression against Iran.

In light of this, Communists of Catalonia wish to state the following:

That the most criminal president in the history of the most criminal country in the world has no moral authority to decide on the future of Cubans.

We call on the international community to prevent this future, completely illegal and immoral intervention.

We call on all democrats around the world to demand that their governments take action to prevent this intervention, and to end the blockade that the island has been suffering from for more than 60 years.

We declare to imperialism that in the face of this, they will have the communists of the world against them, and that we will only redouble our solidarity with the Cuban Revolution.

We also call on the people of Catalonia to participate in the rally in front of the US consulate in Barcelona, on May 23rd at 12 noon, as well as in any future mobilisations that may be called.
