Algerian Party for Democracy and Socialism (PADS)
The Algerian Party for Democracy and Socialism (PADS) strongly condemns the new reckless escalation of U.S. imperialism against Cuba. The presidential decree issued on January 29, 2026, which threatens to impose sanctions on any country supplying oil to the island, is part of a policy of “total asphyxiation,” described as an “economic war”. It constitutes an act of blackmail aimed at worsening the energy crisis from which the Cuban people have been suffering for years. This measure extends decades of an unjust blockade and seeks to exploit the vulnerability caused by the decline in supplies from Venezuela, thereby placing the Cuban people in the face of a serious social and humanitarian crisis.
The claim that Cuba represents a “threat” is nothing more than a blatant attempt to conceal the real responsibilities. Imperialism is the true violator of peoples’ sovereignty, using economic pressure, sanctions, and threats against all those who refuse to submit to its dictates. The deprivation, power outages, and shortages affecting the population are the direct result of this aggressive and inhumane policy.
The Algerian Party for Democracy and Socialism reaffirms its principled and unwavering solidarity with the Cuban people and with the Communist Party of Cuba. It also calls upon all popular forces, trade unions, progressive movements, and militant youth around the world to unite their efforts to condemn U.S. aggression, demand the immediate lifting of the blockade, and strengthen concrete international solidarity with Cuba.
No to the blockade, no to imperialist blackmail!

Having become emboldened after its imperialist intervention in Venezuela, the Trump administration is now intensifying its aggression against Cuba, with the ridiculous argument that it is "facing aggressive actions." In this context, the US is considering imposing tariffs and sanctions on countries that supply Cuba with oil and other vital commodities, as well as a "naval blockade" of the Island of Revolution.
This is an attempt to intensify the economic and commercial strangulation of Cuba, to generalize the deprivation and shortages faced by the Cuban people as a result of decades of condemnable embargo by the US and its allies, as well as the additional measures taken by the Trump administration, following on from previous ones, such as the inclusion of Cuba in the unacceptable "list of states that support terrorism."
The KKE condemns the new threats of US imperialism against Cuba. We express our solidarity with the Cuban people and the Communist Party of Cuba. We call on the Greek people and youth, and the peoples of the whole world who have always stood by Cuba, to step up their struggle. To demand an end to the criminal blockade of Cuba and the immediate removal of Cuba from the unacceptable "list of states that support terrorism." In the face of the intensification of US aggression, we shout "Cuba is not alone! Hands off Cuba!
Resist imperialism! Full support to Cuba!
The Brazilian Communist Party (PCB) repudiates and denounces the new escalation of aggressions by U.S. imperialism against the Republic of Cuba. This is manifested in the threats from Donald Trump's fascist government, the criminal tightening of the economic, financial, and commercial blockade, explicit military threats, and the intimidation of the naval siege aimed at preventing the supply of oil, food, medicine, and other goods essential for the survival of the Cuban people.
This is a deliberate policy of economic and social asphyxiation, whose central objective is to provoke the internal collapse of the Socialist Island, to inflict extreme suffering on the population and, through the force of hunger, scarcity, and international blackmail, attempt to destroy the social achievements guaranteed by socialism and the Cuban Revolution itself, aiming to restore the dominion of monopoly capital over the country. This offensive constitutes a continuous crime against a sovereign people and a flagrant violation of international law, UN resolutions, and the most elementary principles of the self-determination of peoples.
The threats against Cuba are part of a broader context of the systemic crisis of imperialism, which, faced with its economic, political, and geopolitical decline, intensifies practices of hybrid warfare, blockades, sanctions, coups, and military threats against the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean. U.S. imperialism seeks, at any cost, to reassert its hegemony over the region, turning our countries into zones of plunder, political submission, and strategic control of their natural resources.
At this extremely grave moment, in which U.S. imperialism acts in desperation, breaking any legal or humanitarian limit, it becomes imperative that all democratic, progressive, popular, and leftist forces, as well as governments that claim to be sovereign and committed to peace, act firmly to block, isolate, and dissuade the criminal measures announced by the United States government. More than formal statements, concrete political, diplomatic, and material contributions in defense of the Cuban people are necessary, as they face with dignity one of the longest and most brutal imperialist aggressions in contemporary history.
The PCB reaffirms that solidarity with Cuba is not an abstract or merely moral gesture: it is an internationalist political task. For decades, Cuba has been a concrete example of solidarity among peoples, offering doctors, educators, and humanitarian and political support to numerous nations, even under extreme conditions of blockade and siege. To defend Cuba is to defend the right of peoples to sovereignty, self-determination, and the construction of a socialist project free from imperialist domination.
Faced with this grave situation, the Brazilian Communist Party makes a national and international call to popular, union, and student organizations, to communist and socialist parties, to progressive movements, and to anti-imperialist forces to intensify political mobilization, organize demonstrations, denunciation campaigns, and concrete actions of material solidarity with the Cuban people. Cuba's resistance is an inseparable part of the struggle of workers and peoples of the world against U.S. imperialism and the capitalist system.
Full support to the Cuban Revolution!
Unrestricted solidarity with the Cuban people!
Organize internationalist resistance in defense of Cuba!
Homeland or death, we shall prevail!
Down with imperialism!

The new escalation of US aggression against Cuba is a new act of audacity by the Trump regime
The new escalation of US aggression against Cuba represents a new episode in the Trump regime’s audacity. AKEL denounces the new illegal measures taken by the US against Cuba and expresses its unconditional solidarity with the people and leadership of Cuba.
Trump’s decree imposing tariffs on countries that supply oil to Cuba aims to provoke energy suffocation to the Cuban people and adds to the economic, trade, and financial blockade that the US has imposed on Cuba for 65 years. It should be pointed out that last October, the UN General Assembly, for the 33rd consecutive year and by an overwhelming majority of the world’s states, called on the US to end the blockade of Cuba.
The intensification of the interventions in Latin America, the attacks against Greenland, the economic wars against European economies, the support for the ongoing genocide in Gaza, the preparations for an invasion of Iran, and the undermining of the UN demonstrate that the US is ruthlessly turning against everyone in order to defend its hegemony in the Western hemisphere and across the entire planet.
Now more than ever, we need to defend international law, the UN Charter, and peace, which are not mere wishful thinking but are prerequisites for humanity’s survival in the face of the nightmarish dangers it currently faces.
