Istanbul, April 19 , 2026: The meeting of the Working Group (WG) of the International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties (IMCWP) held in Istanbul on April 19 approved a declaration supporting the Cuban Revolution against the US imperialist encirclement. A delegation from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), led by Emilio Lozada García and Elier Ramirez Caedo—head of the Department of International Relations and deputy head of the Ideological Department, respectively—expressed their gratitude for this important initiative.

The text strongly condemns the actions of the United States and the escalation of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade, which was expanded to include the energy sector following President Trump’s Executive Order on January 29, preventing the supply of fuel to the country. It also points to the underlying threats of a show of force aimed at toppling the Revolution. At the same time, it highlights the resistance of the Cuban people, the strength of the revolutionary process led by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, and the conviction to keep defending Cuba's sovereignty, self-determination and socialism.

The declaration calls for strengthening international solidarity with Cuba as an historical responsibility of the communist and workers' parties.

The meeting of the IMCWP Working Group also allowed the the Cuban delegation to hold bilateral meetings with the Communist Party of Turkey, the Communist Party of Greece, the Portuguese Communist Party and the Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain among others.

The occasion was perfect for an act of solidarity with our country, where the deputy head of the Ideological Department of the PCC’s Central Committee spoke to emphasize the relevance of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz’s ideas in the year marking the centenary of his birth. It also served to promote the upcoming International Colloquium “Fidel: Legacy and Future,” to be held in Cuba from August 10 to 13.
