On 4 November, in his speech to Parliament, the General Secretary of the Central Committe of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), D. Koutsoumbas, referred to the results of the U.S. elections, noting the following:
“The U.S. midterm elections highlight the widespread dissatisfaction of millions of Americans, over the high cost of living, insufficient wages and broken promises. Trump promised to make America “great again”. And what is actually increasing? Bills, military spending, and the profits of monopolies! He promised to end the wars in a single day, yet workers' salaries are running out before the end of the month and the wars are continuing! However, this justified discontent finds no real outlet within the Democrat-Republican polarity. Because while the tenants of Congress may change, unfortunately those who hold the keys do not: the big monopoly groups, the big financial interests.”
