Legendary Canadian Communist leader Tim Buck was born January 6, 1891


Buck was General Secretary of the Communist Party of Canada from 1929 to 1962. (from 1943 to 1959 known as the Labor Progressive Party).


A machinist by trade he moved to Canada from the UK in 1910. He led the Communist Party in Canada through the thirties, the war and the beginning of the Cold War.


Buck was imprisoned by the Canadian government from 1932-34 and while in prison was the target of an assassination attempt.


A genuine hero in the fight for Canadian socialism.
