Cuban culture and the Cuban Revolution have suffered an irreparable loss with the death of actress and educator Corina Mestre. An emblematic figure and passionate defender of national values, Mestre left an indelible mark on Cuba's art and education scene.
The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, expressed his deep sorrow for the departure of his "faithful friend, collaborator, TEACHER AND PATRIOT."
In an emotional message on the social network X, Díaz-Canel embraced Mestre's family, as well as the Cuban people who "have lost one of their most passionate defenders." He also expressed his respect and solidarity to Mestre's mother, "a brave Cuban who until today was by her daughter's side in every difficult battle."
For his part, the Secretary of Organization of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales Ojeda, also deeply regretted "the sad news of the death of the actress and educator Corina Mestre," whom he described as "an example of a militant and fervent defender of our culture and the Revolution." Morales Ojeda sent the condolences of the party organization to Mestre's family, friends and co-workers.
