The Workers Party of Ireland extends warm revolutionary solidarity to the Cuban people, their Communist Party and their revolutionary process, which for more than six decades has stood as a living example of socialist construction under the most aggressive conditions of imperialist hostility. Cuba’s struggle is not symbolic, it is concrete and rooted in the struggle between a sovereign socialist country and the global capitalist system that seeks to suffocate it.

The Workers Party of Ireland recently collected a large consignment of supplies for shipment to Cuba containing food, medical and hygiene products to help the international campaign to counteract the shortages caused by the deepening criminal U.S. blockade.

The U.S. blockade, designed explicitly to starve the Cuban people into submission, remains one of the longest and most punitive acts of economic warfare in modern history. It is a textbook expression of imperialism as Lenin analysed it: monopoly capital projecting its power to crush any society that dares to break from capitalist domination. The Workers Party of Ireland joins the overwhelming majority of the world in demanding the immediate and unconditional end of this criminal policy, which inflicts suffering on civilians and violates the rights of the Cuban people to decide their own future.

Despite these pressures, Cuba has achieved what capitalist states cannot: universal healthcare, free education, scientific innovation and a culture of internationalist solidarity that has saved lives across the world. Cuban medical brigades, dispatched to disasters and epidemics worldwide, embody the socialist principle of proletarian internationalism.

The Workers Party of Ireland reaffirms its long-standing support for the Cuban Revolution. The path of socialist development must be determined by the Cuban people alone, led by their revolutionary party, free from imperialist interference, destabilisation campaigns or ideological subversion. Attempts by imperialist powers to weaponise economic hardship generated by the illegal embargo will not undermine Cuba’s resolve.

At a moment when global capitalism continues to pursue the path of exploitation, militarism, and ecological destruction, Cuba’s persistence demonstrates that alternatives not only exist but endure. The Revolution’s survival is a testament to collective discipline, political consciousness, and the organised power of a people who refuse to be subordinated to imperialist interests.

The Workers Party of Ireland stands, as it always has, with socialist Cuba. The defence of the Cuban Revolution is part of the broader fight for a world free from exploitation, domination and capitalist barbarism. Active solidarity with Cuba is the duty of all who seek socialism, liberation and the triumph of the working class.

Long live socialist Cuba!

Long live proletarian internationalism!

Hasta la victoria siempre!
