Statements from Cuba, Turkey, India, France, the United States, Ireland, Britain and Scotland.

In the wake of the illegal US imperialist attack on Venezuela and the apparent kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores, condemnation and outrage have been expressed by Left parties and leaders around the world.

Communist Party of Turkey:
TKP General Secretary Kemal Okuyan on the attack on Venezuela:
"The United States has begun bombing Venezuela. We already knew that Trump—who once declared, “We will no longer interfere in the internal affairs of other countries”—is both a liar and a killer. Once again, reality has confirmed what we knew all along.
There is no such thing as “peaceful imperialism.” The idea that the United States could withdraw from the world in peace and simply mind its own business contradicts the very logic of imperialism itself.
Humanity now faces the risk of losing many of the gains achieved through decades of struggle. The reemergence of the law of the jungle in international relations is inseparable from the return of the law of the jungle against working people within individual countries.
Sovereignty, the inviolability of borders, independence—these concepts have become meaningless technicalities for multinational monopolies. In today’s world, power decides everything.
Now is the time to stand in solidarity with the people of Venezuela. But such solidarity is only meaningful if it involves a clear and uncompromising stance against all imperial and expansionist ambitions, as well as against the pseudo-left rhetoric that claims concepts like “sovereignty” and “independence” have somehow become obsolete.
Both positions ultimately serve to legitimize this aggression and others like it."
India:
The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:
Stop US Aggression on Venezuela
The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) strongly condemns the blatant act of U.S. aggression on Venezuela by bombing various sites in the country.
For the last few weeks the U.S. has mobilised its military and naval forces around Venezuela in order to enforce regime change. This is the real face of the U.S. National Security Strategy 2025, announced in the first week of December 2025. The concentration of U.S. forces in the Western Hemisphere and open declaration of its intent to bring the entire region under its control represent the Trump corollary to the Monroe Doctrine.
The CPI(M) demands an immediate end to U.S. aggression and withdrawal of all its troops from the Caribbean Sea. Latin America should be declared a zone of peace and the U.S. should not be allowed to interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign countries.
The UN Security Council should pass a Resolution condemning the U.S. aggression. International pressure must be mounted on the U.S. to immediately stop its aggression on Venezuela.
Ireland:
Britain:
France:
Scotland:
SSP International Secretary Bill Bonnar expresses the Party’s solidarity with Venezuela and condemnation of illegal strikes by the USA, and the kidnapping of President Maduro and his wife.
The Scottish Socialist Party unconditionally condemns the military aggression carried out by the United States against the legitimate and sovereign government of Venezuela. It condemns the kidnapping of President Maduro and his wife, the killing of defenceless civilians and widespread destruction. It stands by the Venezuelan Government and the Venezuelan armed forces in the defence of the sovereignty of their country.
The pretext for the attack is a lie. That this is about stopping the supply of drugs from Venezuela to the United States. This claim has no validity or credibility. The real reason is to overthrow the Venezuelan Government, replace it with a dependent pro-American regime and for the United States to gain control of the country’s huge oil reserves.
The coming days will see the need for a wave of solidarity in support of Venezuela. That solidarity is already developing around the world. In Scotland the Scottish Socialist Party has been steadfast in its support for the Venezuelan Revolution. That support will continue.
