Summer, 1959-1960, Arkady Plastov (1893-1972) USSR
Plastov, an Order of Lenin, Lenin and Stalin Prize winner was a leader of a movement towards a more pastoral and less political neo-realist socialist art in the USSR in the late 1950s and 1960s. His work after the war focused heavily on Soviet rural life and themes.
Summer perfectly embodies this motif, and is tremendously charming, most endearingly with the small child looking back.
