As part of the 51st KNE (Communist Youth) Festival - "Odigitis," political speeches, discussions, and concerts are ongoing nationwide. Dimitris Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), participated in the festival events in Livadia and issued the following statement:

“We are in a very difficult phase as a people and as a country. We need to be as ready and mobilized as possible, because the government is constantly introducing new anti-labour and anti-people measures, starting with this monstrosity of a law that allows a 13-hour working day that will exhaust the people and workers.

And, of course, at the same time, we need to struggle for wage increases, collective labour agreements, health and safety measures in the workplace, and an end to the heavy taxation on the people.

Furthermore, we are fighting for an end to interventions and military conflicts. Our government and country must not become further embroiled in the war carnage taking place in our neighbourhood. Yesterday, NATO already decided that its member states should deploy troops to the borders of Eastern Europe with Russia, increasing the risk of a generalized imperialist war. We must stay away from this carnage! It is up to the Greek people to speak out, and they will.”
