The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) reports that thousands of strikers in Athens and dozens of other cities in Greece honoured Workers’ May Day with mass strike rallies.
"Workers from dozens of sectors and workplaces, as well as university and school students, self-employed and women gathered at the strike rallies and made it clear that they choose their lives, rights, and needs over profits based on exploitation, poverty, barbarity, and war."
Dimitris Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the KKE, took part in the May Day strike rally in Syntagma Square and made the following statement:
“This decayed system, this corrupt state of a small majority and the international alliances of the imperialists are hostile to the people. They cannot be humanized; they are increasingly getting worse. Hope lies in the struggle to overthrow all of this. The working class and the people can overturn this situation if they decide to do so. The present dilemma, the real dilemma of our time, is socialism or barbarity. Happy May Day”.
