Tô Lâm wins the L.N. Tolstoy International Peace Prize for 2026

The Laureate of the L.N. Tolstoy International Peace Prize for 2026 is Tô Lâm, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The Lev N. Tolstoy International Peace Prize honors those who contribute to global peace and mutual understanding among nations. Named after Russian author and philosopher Lev Tolstoy, it emphasizes the protection and promotion of humane, dialogue-oriented, and justice-focused values championed by Tolstoy and other eminent historical figures.

On July 24 the prize for 2026 was awarded to Tô Lâm, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, in recognition of his efforts to strengthen peace and cooperation internationally. The jury cited his contributions to Vietnam's development, promotion of global justice, respect for international law, and the preservation of peace-loving and humane traditions of the Vietnamese state and society.

The prize is selected by an international council of distinguished political, social, and cultural figures from countries including Belarus, China, France, India, Japan, Russia, and South Africa. The jury includes experts with broad international renown and representatives of institutions associated with Lev Tolstoy, such as Vladimir Tolstoy, Director General of the State Museum of L.N. Tolstoy and a Tolstoy descendant.
