The 30th International Seminar "Parties and a New Society" took place in Mexico City from October 6 to 8, 2026, bringing together 360 delegates from 39 countries to discuss socio-economic development, national sovereignty, and international cooperation.

The seminar, organized annually by the Labour Party of Mexico (PT) since 1996, provided a platform for left-wing and progressive political movements to exchange experiences and strategies for social progress, development, and peace. This year, the event highlighted changes in left-wing movements over the past 30 years, the evolution of international blocs, the shift towards a multipolar world, and contemporary socialist models.

The seminar hosted 360 delegates from 39 countries, representing 101 organizations and political parties from across continents. The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) delegation, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Phuc Lam, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, shared insights from Vietnam’s socio-economic development, the Doi Moi (Renewal) process, and the country’s path toward socialism.

During the seminar, Vietnam emphasized people-centred development, social progress aligned with economic growth, national independence, sovereignty, and proactive international integration. Vietnam's delegation also presented the bilingual book “The Aspiration for a Strong and Prosperous Vietnam in the New Era”, which compiles key articles and speeches by General Secretary of the CPV and President To Lam, offering international participants insight into Vietnam’s contributions to development and party-building strategies.

Participants focused on several global and political issues:

  • Socio-economic development models and equitable growth

  • National sovereignty and regional integration

  • Peace, democracy, and security in light of emerging non-traditional challenges

  • Responses to neo-fascism and strategic competition among major powers

  • Adjustments in international relations and international cooperation for left-wing forces

Vietnam’s delegation noted that successful development requires policies tailored to national realities and maintaining the people at the center of progress. They encouraged political parties to expand dialogue, strengthen solidarity, and share best practices for social justice and improving living standards.

On the sidelines of the seminar, the Vietnamese delegation participated in:

  • Events celebrating the 15th anniversary of Mexico’s National Regeneration Movement (Morena)

  • Meetings with leaders of Morena’s National Institute of Political Training and the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) Committee for Foreign Affairs

  • A tribute at the Monument to President Ho Chi Minh in Mexico City

The seminar reinforced the importance of international party cooperation for progressive goals, highlighted Vietnam’s development achievements and policy approaches, and encouraged stronger global collaboration among political parties, left-wing movements, and progressive forces.

This edition of the seminar stands out for its focus on contemporary global challenges, steps toward multipolarity, and practical lessons from participating countries’ socio-economic experiences, marking a significant milestone in the PT’s tradition of international political engagement.
