Dear Comrades,

Dear Cuban friends,

The Communist Party of Denmark stands side by side with the Cuban people.

We support the Cuban Revolution and the struggle for socialism. For us, socialism is not merely a political idea, but a vision of a society where people come before profit, and where human needs and dignity are what matter most.

Your achievements cannot be denied.

We salute and draw inspiration from Cuba’s selfless solidarity with people around the world. Solidarity without demands for anything in return – with the advancement of humanity as its guiding principle.

It has been solidarity with the struggle against colonialism in Africa. It has been the fight against apartheid. It has been doctors and healthcare workers sent to people whom the wealthy countries of the world have too often abandoned. And it has been support for peoples and movements which, like you, have fought for human dignity, freedom and socialism.

Your small island has been – and will continue to be – a thorn in the side of imperialism.

But Cuba has also shown what can be achieved when society’s resources are directed towards meeting human needs.

Free education. Universal access to healthcare. Public research, including medical research, without profit being the driving force. Land reform. And, not least, broad access to sports and culture for the people.

These are achievements worth defending.

The Cuban people should know that solidarity is also strong in a small country like Denmark.

We are only around six million people, but we want to show that distance does not mean indifference.

We are working tirelessly to raise funds for solar panels that can help keep your hospitals running. We are collecting containers of equipment for the Cuban healthcare system.

This is solidarity in practice.

Because solidarity is more important than ever.

And let us make one thing clear:

This is not charity.

It is international solidarity. It is our clear support for the Cuban people’s right to determine their own future and to carry their revolution forward.

Cuba remains an important example for people all over the world who are fighting for an alternative to a system in which human lives and the future of our planet are subordinated to profit.

We also stand on the shoulders of those who came before us.

Fidel Castro, Raúl Castro, Camilo Cienfuegos, Che Guevara, and all the many revolutionaries who made the struggle for a different society their life’s work.

This year, we are celebrating Fidel Castro’s 100th birthday back home in Denmark – and we are doing so in the name of the Revolution.

We remember his words:

“A revolutionary believes in humanity. Those who do not believe in humanity are not revolutionaries.”

We do.

We believe in humanity.

We believe in the Cuban people.

And the Cuban people should know one thing:

You are not alone.

Long live Cuba!

Long live international solidarity!

Long live the Revolution!
