We stand in solidarity with Raul Castro: Communist Party of Australia

The US indictment of Raúl Castro on May 20 is yet another desperate attempt to attack the heart of the Cuban Revolution. Based on false pretences, like those made against Nicolás Maduro before the terror attack on Venezuela, without evidence or legal precedent. US sponsored terrorism on Cuba is well-documented. The Cuban government put it this way in a recent release: “Cuba’s response to the violation of its airspace constituted an act of legitimate self-defence, protected by the Charter of the United Nations, the 1944 Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation, and the principles of air sovereignty and proportionality.”

Any attempts to undermine Cuban territorial sovereignty will be met with just, proportional force in defence of the Homeland.

The Communist Party of Australia (CPA) roundly condemns this provocation and acts of terror against Cuban sovereignty and the peoples and nations of Latin America. We express our unwavering, firm support for the Cuban Revolution and its leader, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz.

Raúl Castro is 94 years old and one of the great living combatants of the Cuban Revolution. Many of Raúl’s compatriots were martyred and did not see the living embodiment of the Revolution and its glorious history over six decades. Raúl has lived a full life in devotion to his people and the socialist project.

The Cuban people and all combatants, the popular masses and the solidarity groups across the world including in Australia, will form a chain of steel around Raúl Castro. Any attempt to harm him will draw the wrath of the progressive people of the world, sick of US lies, manipulation, and terror.

Long live Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution.

Long live the defence of the Homeland and sovereign, Socialist Cuba.
