Worker demonstration in Petrograd during the "July Days", 1917 -- Photos of Revolutionary Russia #19

During the July Days workers and soldiers in Petrograd rose up against the new provisional government in Russia demanding peace and more power for the Soviets. The provisional government pushed back successfully against the demonstrations and unrest and blamed them on the Bolsheviks.

For a short time Lenin and other Bolshevik leaders were forced underground and the party was on the defensive.
