Zyuganov and Lukashenko meet in Minsk

During the meeting, the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation presented Alexander Lukashenko with the Lenin Prize of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation.

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with Gennady Zyuganov, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) and leader of the CPRF faction in the State Duma, in Minsk on August 10. The leaders discussed a wide range of topics, including agricultural developments and Lukashenko’s recent trips to Russia and China. Zyuganov highlighted a high-yield wheat variety called Zyuganovka, reflecting ongoing agricultural collaboration, and exchanged personal greetings and historical anecdotes, such as stories about the Union State Treaty signing in 1997 that Lukashenko signed on a napkin at the Kremlin.

During the meeting, the leader of the CPRF presented Lukashenko with the Lenin Prize of the Central Committee of the CPRF. According to the CPRF, in 2024, the President of Belarus received the Prize for his tireless and consistent efforts to promote the vision of a fair multipolar world, his contributions to developing its framework, his personal involvement in preserving the historical heritage and values of the Soviet era, and his significant role in fostering friendship and solidarity between the peoples of Belarus and Russia.

The Lenin Prize of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation was revived in 2017. Its given for outstanding contributions to socially important activities that promote the principles of justice and humanism, as well as achievements in advanced industrial and social practices, research, and cultural endeavors. Over the years, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba Raul Castro (2019), General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong (2021), President of Nicaragua Daniel Ortega (2021) and Chairman of the State Affairs of the DPRK Kim Jong-un (2025) have become laureates of the award. In total, since 2017, the prize has been awarded to more than 45 nominees.
