26 world leaders including Kim Jong Un to attend China's V-Day celebrations

At a press conference held on Thursday, August 28, Hong Lei, Chinese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs outlined some of the details for the celebrations to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese aggression and the Anti-Fascist World War.


26 foreign leaders will attend China's V-Day commemorations on September 3. These will include Russian President Vladimir Putin and General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Kim Jong Un. He will be there at the invitation of Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the People’s Republic of China.


The Socialist Republic of Vietnam will be represented by President Luong Cuong and the Lao People's Democratic Republic by President Thongloun Sisoulith.



50 special invitees will also attend the commemorations. They will be coming from 14 countries, including Russia, the US, the UK, France and Canada.


Preparations for China's V-Day military parade are nearly finished. On the evening of September 3, China will host a gala at the Great Hall of the People as part of the V-Day celebrations. The final integration of the art performance is currently underway.


A delegation from socialist Cuba will also be present at the celebration including President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
