Best Election Results in 35 Years for the Communist Party of Sweden
The final results of the Swedish parliamentary elections have now been announced, and they show clearly that the Communist Party of Sweden has achieved its best election result in 35 years, or since the counter-revolution in the Soviet Union.
We are deeply grateful to our cadres and sympathizers who have worked extremely hard to inform voters about our party and to deliver communist ballots to polling places, as municipalities have no legal obligation to distribute our ballots. The work of our cadres and sympathizers is of the greatest importance to the struggle for socialism in Sweden.
The assistance we have received from our fraternal parties is also a source of deep gratitude for our party. Its significance cannot be measured in votes alone, but also in the solidarity it demonstrates and in the affirmation of the international character of our common struggle.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our voters, who have held their heads high as they cast the ballot affirming their demand for a new and better world. Your vote acknowledges that socialism is still the only possible way forward for humanity.
Despite the obstacles placed in our way by the capitalist Swedish state, we have managed to achieve a significant increase in our electoral support. Unlike the parties that are part and parcel of the bourgeois political system, our party is forced to pay for the printing of our ballots and then take responsibility for distributing them to the polling places ourselves. The big parties receive millions of euros in state funding, while we rely on our own resources. Every cent our party has raised through membership fees and donations from sympathizers has made a difference.
But our work is not done. While the caretaker parties of capitalism now engage in elaborate political theater to determine which parties will get their turn at administering the capitalist state, we continue our struggle for socialism and revolution. We know that, no matter which party or parties win this game of musical chairs, the people will be on the losing side. Therefore, we continue our struggle. While those caretaker parties all ultimately represent capital, our party has no interests other than those of the working people.
We realize that our share of the vote is still significantly smaller than that of the big, established parties, but we also know that the votes we receive carry so much more power than those of the other parties, because all our votes carry with them the future. We see our reach growing. We see that more people are listening to us, and more people are voting for us.
Strengthened by this result, we continue the struggle for the future: for an existence without insecurity and poverty, without war and misery.
