Communist Parties of Cuba and Chile sign Exchange and Cooperation Agreement

With the signing both parties reaffirm their commitment to promote greater exchange on issues of common interest and to work towards promoting cooperation, dialogue, communication, political education, reciprocal learning and trust between the two parties.

On Thursday afternoon, Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), received Lautaro Carmona, president of the Communist Party of Chile (CCP), who is on an official visit to the country.


During the meeting, both parties agreed on the good state of relations between the party organizations, and expressed their willingness to continue working on strengthening these ties.


Morales Ojeda referred to the importance of both parties continuing to raise awareness in the region about the urgency of maintaining unity and cooperation through regional integration mechanisms in Latin America and the Caribbean, particularly in the context of the Sao Paulo Forum.


For his part, Carmona ratified the unwavering support of the CCP in the fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the government of the United States and against the unjustified inclusion of Cuba in the List of Countries Sponsoring Terrorism.


The exchange served as the setting for the signing of an Exchange and Cooperation Agreement and a Roadmap.


This Agreement aims to strengthen and expand the historic relations of friendship, cooperation, and solidarity between the PCC and the CCP. The Roadmap, in turn, will make it possible to implement the content of the Agreement through concrete actions.



With the signing of these instruments, both parties reaffirm their commitment to promote greater exchange on issues of common interest and to work towards promoting cooperation, dialogue, communication, political education, reciprocal learning and trust between the two parties.


On the Chilean side, Bárbara Figueroa, general secretary of the Communist Party of Chile, also participated.


On the Cuban side, Emilio Lozada García, head of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, as well as other officials of the Department, were also present.


At the end of the meeting, Lautaro Carmona, president of the Communist Party of Chile, in statements to the press, pointed out that this is a step that has been being worked on in terms of the intensity, depth and perspective of the brotherhood between the Communist Party of Cuba. and the Communist Party of Chile.



"At many times in the history of the respective parties there have been great examples that show that synthesis, that twinning and today we feel that it is necessary to update our history with our determination, this is not a punctual, bureaucratic, administrative event, but it is the representation of a militant formation, which goes beyond the borders of a country and that thinks of great values for humanity," Lautaro Carmona said.
