A delegation from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba attended the opening ceremony of the Avante Festival, hosted by the Portuguese Communist Party:

Juan Miguel García Díaz, who heads the Office of Administration and Services of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, is heading the delegation participating in the latest edition of the Avante!, held from September 5 to 7.

In his keynote speech, Paulo Raimundo, Secretary General of the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP), expressed gratitude for the presence of the international delegations in attendance, underscored the significance of Avante for fostering exchange and cooperation among leftist and progressive political parties, and denounced the wars, blockades, and sanctions imposed on the world's peoples by US imperialism. He also conveyed solidarity and support for the Palestinian people in his address.

Participating in the event were the Cuban ambassador to the Portuguese Republic, José Ramón Saborido Loidi, and Katia Aruca Chaple, an official from the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee.

The head of the Office of Administration and Services of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, who is leading the delegation attending the Avante Festival, had a cordial meeting with Rui Garcia, the vice president of the Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation (CPPC).

During the friendly exchange, García Díaz extended warm greetings from the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) and expressed gratitude for the CPPC's solidarity and longstanding support in combating the genocidal blockade and its profound effects on every facet of Cuban life. He also emphasized the need to further strengthen involvement in the brigades organized by ICAP, particularly the brigade planned for its 65th anniversary, scheduled from December 21, 2025, to January 3, 2026.

Rui stated that the Cuban Revolution serves as an inspiration for their work, provided details about the ongoing solidarity campaign they are organizing, and emphasized the importance of strengthening their ties with our country to confront the various challenges we encounter, such as the rise of the right and the resurgence of fascism.

García Díaz also emphasized the significance of the ideals of the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz. The Centennial Commemoration Program, initiated on August 13 in Biran, seeks to encourage the study and exploration of his ideas.

Participating in the exchange on the Cuban side were José Ramón Saborido Loidi, the Cuban ambassador to the Portuguese Republic, and Katia Aruca Chaple, an official from the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee.

The leader of the Office of Administration and Services of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba also had a cordial meeting with Regina Márquez, a member of the Secretariat of the Women's Democratic Movement (MDM) in Portugal, along with other representatives from this organization.

During the exchange, García Díaz extended a warm greeting from the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) and expressed gratitude for the MDM's solidarity and longstanding support for our people. He emphasized the significant role women have played in defending the Revolution and mentioned the initiatives carried out as part of the Program for the Advancement of Women.

Regina reaffirmed the MDM's dedication to supporting the Cuban cause and discussed various actions they have undertaken to denounce the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States government.

They concurred on the relevance of the ideals of the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz, in today's international context. This made it an appropriate moment to share details about the Centennial Commemorative Program, which was initiated on August 13 in Biran by Roberto Morales Ojeda, a member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the PCC.

Representing Cuba, José Ramón Saborido Loidi, the Cuban ambassador to the Portuguese Republic, and Katia Aruca Chaple, an official from the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee, also took part in the exchange.
