Cuba and Vietnam in the Year of Friendship is the name of the photographic exhibition that opened Thursday (May 15) at the José Martí Memorial in Havana. Emilio Lozada García, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and head of its Department of International Relations, and Nguen Xuan Thang, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), president of the National Theoretical Council and director of the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy were present for the launch.

Composed of 32 snapshots, this exhibition is a visual tribute to the 65 years of uninterrupted relations between the two nations, characterized by a history of mutual aid and solidarity.

During the event, which was also attended by Central Committee member and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Josefina Vidal and Deputy Head of the Ideological Department Liudmila Álamo Dueñas, it was noted that Cuba became the first Latin American country to establish diplomatic relations with the Asian nation on December 2, 1960.

Kenelma Carvajal, director of the institution hosting the exhibition, said that this shows how the seed of comradeship sown by Ho Chi Minh and Fidel Castro is indestructible and inspires current generations.

Prior to the inauguration, Xuan Thang paid tribute to Cuba's National Hero and, as part of his agenda, gave a keynote address at the headquarters of the Central Committee of the PCC, which was attended by Secretariat members Jorge Luis Broche Lorenzo and José Ramón Monteagudo Ruiz, heads of the Economic, Productive and Agri-Food departments, respectively.

The exhibition was also attended by deputy leaders, Central Committee officials, executives and professors from the Party University, and cadres from political and mass organizations.

Titled: "Some theoretical and practical issues on the new era of development: the era of growth of the Vietnamese nation", he explained how Vietnam is at a crucial stage of its development, reaffirming its commitment to peace, independence and socialism. He also commented that in the context of the recent visit of the Secretary General of the CPV, To Lam to Cuba, the relations of friendship and cooperation between both countries have been highlighted, as well as all the joint activities that strengthen this alliance .

In his presentation, Xuan Thang emphasized that his country has gone through two significant periods in its history: Struggle for Independence (1930-1975) : A period focused on national independence and the unification of the country and Renewal and Integration (1986-2025) : A process of reforms that has transformed Vietnam into a developing nation, with a growing economy and an improvement in the quality of life of its citizens.

He also explained that the New Era of Development is characterized by ambitious strategic goals, seeking to transform Vietnam into a high-income developed country by 2045. The goal is to achieve economic growth of over 8% by 2025, with the Party's strong commitment to adjusting and achieving these objectives.

To achieve this, he continued, priority is given to economic growth that respects the environment and promotes social well-being. He also stated that the goal is to improve institutional structures to eliminate obstacles that limit development, advance innovation and transformation, and guarantee social progress and equity, focusing on vulnerable groups.

Other key aspects of this objective are the promotion of culture and the construction of a modern education system. All of this, he stated, will be achieved by strengthening the Party through the implementation of leadership innovations and the fight against corruption.

During his visit to Cuba, Nguen Xuan Thang participated in the 6th theoretical seminar between the PCC and the PCV, was received by the First Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, as well as other Party, State, and Government leaders, and toured economic and social centers.
