The second day of the Avante Festival, celebrated from September 5 to 7, held special significance for Cuba with a solidarity event organized by the Portuguese Communist Youth (JCP). Participants included Juan Miguel García Díaz, head of the Office of Administration and Services and leader of the Central Committee of the PCC's delegation to the Festival, Sandra Pereira, president of the Portugal-Cuba Friendship Association, Suniel Sosa, secretary of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY), and José Ramón Saborido Loidi, the Cuban ambassador to the Portuguese Republic. During the heartfelt ceremony, the Portuguese Communist Party, the JCP, and the Friendship Association reaffirmed their support and solidarity in the fight against the genocidal blockade imposed by US imperialism.

In the afternoon, the Centennial Commemorative Program for Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz was officially initiated. This occasion featured the screening of the documentary "Today Fidel is Going to Speak" by filmmaker Jorge Luis Sánchez and the opening of a photographic exhibition showcasing iconic images from the life of the Leader of our Revolution. Alongside Juan Miguel and Ambassador Saborido, PCP member Albano Nunes also addressed the event, emphasizing the enduring relevance of the Commander's legacy for both Cuba and the world.

Yesterday, Juan Miguel García participated in a debate on the current challenges in Latin America and the Caribbean, organized by the PCP. The event included representatives from the Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB), the Communist Party of Chile, the Colombian Communist Party, and the Communist Party of Uruguay. During the debate, they condemned the blockade and unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States government. They also discussed the complex situation in the region, noting the rise of the right and the threats of a fascist resurgence, while expressing strong support for President Nicolás Maduro in response to the US military presence in the Caribbean.
