Cuba rejects baseless US accusations of involvement in Ukraine

In a statement released on October 21, Cuba’s government has firmly denied new U.S. accusations of involvement in the Ukraine conflict, calling them unfounded and part of a disinformation campaign.
Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has repeatedly stated that allegations from the United States suggesting Cuban participation in the military conflict in Ukraine are false, baseless, and unsupported by evidence.
Cuba notes that it is not a party to the conflict and has no military personnel involved in Ukraine or, unlike the United States, any other country.
Reports have surfaced about Cuban citizens fighting in Ukraine, but Cuba has made it clear that any individuals involved were recruited abroad by organizations with no ties to the Cuban government. Cuban authorities emphasize that such actions occur without the encouragement, consent, or involvement of the Cuban state
Cuba highlights its zero‑tolerance policy toward mercenarism and human trafficking, noting that since 2023 courts conducted multiple criminal proceedings related to illegal recruitment, resulting in prison sentences for dozens of defendants.
The Cuban government says the U.S. accusations are part of a coordinated disinformation effort aimed at manipulating international opinion and exerting political pressure, especially ahead of the annual blockade vote at the United Nations.
Cuba also reiterated its support for a peaceful, negotiated resolution to the war in Ukraine.
